Iran: Coronavirus Fatalities in 480 Cities Exceed 212,500


 Crisis in Khuzestan: hospitalizations have tripled and patients in 15 cities have increased by 100 to 1180 percent

  • President of Ahvaz University of Medical Sciences: The number of hospitalizations has a steep slope. Last week, the number of patients in Dashte Azadeghan rose by 1180%, in Aghajari by 1000%, in Ramshir 600%, in Hoveyzeh 583%, in Lali 500%, in Karun 468%, in Mahshahr 247%, in Haftkel 229%, in Hamidiyeh by 200%, in Abadan by 140%, in Andimeshk by 140%, in Ahvaz by 101%, in Baghmalek by 106%, in Indika and Hendijan by 100%.   • Alireza Zali, head of the National Coronavirus Combat Taskforce (NCCT) in Tehran: In the past 24 hours, the number of patients in Tehran has increased by 3% and the number of hospitalizations has been 130 more than the number of those discharged. (Mehr news agency, February 7, 2021)
  • Chairman of Tehran City Council acknowledged: Given the economic and psychological problems caused by COVID-19, the public’s patience is running out, making it much harder to tolerate the disproportionate behavior of the officials. (Eskan-news media outlet, February 7, 2021)
  • Qazvin University of Medical Sciences: Outpatient referrals have increased by 30%, therefore hospitalizations and deaths will increase in the next two weeks. (ISNA news agency, February 6, 2021)

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on Sunday, February 7, 2021, that the Coronavirus death toll in 480 cities had exceeded 212,500. The number of victims in Tehran is 51,121, Isfahan 13,565, Khuzestan 10,590, Mazandaran 8,842, Lorestan 8,673, Qom 8,155, East Azerbaijan 8,083, Fars 6,407, Sistan and Baluchestan, 5,091, Hamedan 5,018,Kerman 4,714, Khorasan North 3,288, Ardabil 2,632, Ilam 2,191, South Khorasan 2,036, and Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari 1,715.

Minoo Mohraz, member of the NCCT Scientific Committee told Mehr news agency, today, “We are worried about the final month of winter, because the number of patients has increased again, and this is seriously alarming.”
