Protests Have Started Early On Sunday

Sunday began and as the sun rose, so did the people of Iran. The revolt of Khuzestan last night has been all over the internet and the scenes of Iranians thirsty for water and tired of being deprived of their most basic rights have reached every corner of the country. In Shush, southwest of the country, Haft Tappeh Sugarcane Complex workers are now marching in solidarity with the people of Khuzestan province, protesting against severe water shortages.

Today is also the 29th day of protests by thousands of oil and gas workers across Iran. Some oil workers in Isfahan showed their solidarity by joining the strike. Elsewhere in Isfahan, pensioners and retirees of the Steel Social Security Fund are holding a gathering calling for their delayed pensions and higher wages. In Pol Dokhtar, Western Iran, municipal agents gathered today to demand months of their unpaid wages and insurance. And there’s more to come.
