 Australian NTEU Expresses Her Support for Iranian Teachers

The Secretary-General of the Australian National Tertiary Education Union, Matthew McGowan, wrote in a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on February 25: “I am writing for you on behalf of the National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) which represents more than 28,000 academic, professional and general staff in universities. We are extremely concerned that the Iranian government has acted to repress teachers for simply exercising their basic human rights of freedom of speech and assembly. The National Tertiary Education Union unequivocally supports teachers’ protests and demands.”
